Cardiovascular Risk Diagrams

An interesting article in the Journal of Clinical Epidemiology on diagramming cardiovascular risk.  Not sure if the link will work well enough for everyone to see the diagrams, but they convey the fact that our risk equations (Framingham, etc.) work for many people in predicting CHD events, but not for everyone.  Given that risk equations have been central to the prescribing of lipid lowering medications (esp. statins), it may be time for a global re-think of cardiovascular risk.  In my not-so-humble opinion…maybe it's time to talk about healthy eating and physical activity a little more…
