For family physicians, our Annual Clinical Focus (from the AAFP) – Genomics – may put us in direct conflict with our previously-held interest in being more prevention and population-oriented than some other clinical specialties. But not if we’re smart about focusing on places where the “broad determinants” of health interact with our individual susceptibilties. If we do this right, this could help us focus our behavioral counseling where it would do the most good.
